Will you join in Helping Us Give School Supplies to ASD students?
HUGSS Back to School Jam makes sure that students are ready for the school year. United Way of Anchorage is committed to Youth Opportunity and is supporting this event along presented by Alaska Coalition of BIPOC Educators and Anchorage School District. The goal is to distribute 5,000 backpacks filled with supplies to ASD students.

Can we count on you to volunteer? There are several ways to help. You can sign up on BeTheChange907.org for HUGSS shifts on July 28 – 30 that prepare for the Back to School Jam. You can also pick from three shifts on July 31 to help with event set-up, backpack distribution, and clean-up on:
- Morning Setup: 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Midday Support: 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Evening Crew: 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Backpacks, Paper, Pencils & More
HUGSS Back to School Jam plans on passing out between $53,000 to $75,000 worth of backpacks and school supplies for the 2026-2027 school year. Families and caregivers of ASD students, please come by and pick up the items, which are made available thanks to organization sponsorships and community member donations.
