Our partnerships bring people and organizations together to create stronger solutions for Alaska.

United Way Anchorage knows that no organization can solve our community’s complex challenges alone. Lasting change requires shared effort, local knowledge, and the willingness to work across sectors. Partnerships are central to how we operate, and they have always been. We bring together nonprofits, businesses, government agencies, schools, health providers, and community members to respond to the needs of our community and build stronger systems.

We’re committed to helping Alaskans, working collaboratively to turn community insight into action. Our partnerships help us listen closely, respond effectively, and scale solutions that improve Alaskans’ lives. By working together, we create greater impact than any one organization could achieve on its own.

Cross-Sector Collaboration

We partner across sectors because community challenges are interconnected. Issues related to building Financial Security, growing a Healthy Community, and ensuring Youth Opportunity do not exist in isolation. The strongest solutions are built through collaboration. By bringing many perspectives and varied expertise together, our partnerships create effective and sustainable responses.

Steady Listening

Our partnerships begin with listening. We work with community members and organizations to understand in what ways Alaskans struggle, where service gaps exist, and what solutions may be most effective. Our responsive approach ensures our work addresses real needs and strengthens systems people rely on every day.

Scaled Impact

United Way’s strength is our ability to learn from others and build on systems and approaches that work. Through our network and partnerships, we share ideas, adapt innovation, and expand successful approaches. Our solutions make our work not only connective and responsive, but scalable as well.

Stronger Together

What we do is more than coordination. United Way is committed to shared responsibility and shared progress. When organizations, institutions, and community members work together, we can mobilize communities to action and create solutions that are more durable, inclusive, and far-reaching.

Joint Effort

Partnerships help transform community commitment into measurable change. Whether through funding, collaboration, volunteerism, or strategic support, partners are essential to building a stronger future for Alaska. Learn more about how we can work together.

Caregiver Program

Being a caregiver is an important and challenging role. Alaska 211's partnership with AARP's Caregiver Program makes it easier for caregivers to access resources. No matter where someone is in their caregiving journey, they can call 211 for planning materials, on-going support services, and end-of-life responsibility management.

Caregiver Definition

An unpaid person, regardless of their age, who cares for someone 18 years or older or who has children with special needs may be a caregiver. They perform regular activities that are necessary for the care recipient. For Alaska 211’s purposes, you simply need to identify as “a caregiver."

Common Needs

Just like care recipients often share similarities, caregivers often have similar needs. Everything from paying bills and scheduling appointments to accessing benefits, transportation assistance, and support groups may factor in. Alaska 211 provides connections for caregivers and recipients.

Free Tax Prep

We're scheduling people for free tax preparations. People benefit when someone advises on or files their taxes. Having their taxes prepared means they might discover they’re eligible for refunds—real dollars for real bills. Alaska 211 connects thousands of Alaskans with free tax prep services and financial literacy resources.

Maximized Refunds

Most Alaskans qualify for assistance. The IRS’s Stakeholder, Partnership, Education, and Communication Relationship (SPEC) Program supports organizations in Alaska that offer fair and equitable tax services. Last tax year, Alaskans received more than $4.6 million in refunds.

Confidential Appointments

IRS-certified tax preparers volunteer to help people file their taxes at no cost. Their services are available Feb. 1 through April 15. Walk-ins are available at some sites. Scheduling appointments guarantee taxpayers receive assistance. When tax prep’s occurring, please call 2-1-1.

Children's Health Insurance Program

If a child in your care is uninsured, text KIDCARE to 898-211. A healthcare navigator can give you free, confidential support and determine if the child’s eligible to receive free health care from Denali KidCare. Once verified, they can also help you enroll the child.

Prescription Discount Card

Prescription costs impact people’s health. We’re part of the SingleCare Community Service Partnership that helps people afford their medications. SingleCare Prescription Discount Card provides savings up to 80%, is free to everyone, and requires no paperwork.
