Access to opportunity allows youth to build the skills, support, and confidence they need to succeed.
Every young person deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, but many students face barriers that affect their ability to thrive in school and prepare for what comes next. Educational success is shaped by more than the classroom alone. It’s influenced by family support, access to resources, and community conditions.
United Way of Anchorage provides students with opportunities to grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Our student programs help increase engagement, build skills, and prepare for the future. Students receive supports along pathways to school, college, career, and lifelong success.
Meaningful Support
Our comprehensive approach supports students’ growth and helps them achieve lasting success. United Way helps students build confidence, form healthy relationships, stay connected to school, and develop the skills they need for life beyond graduation. Young people need quality support as much as they need academics.
College & Career Preparations
As the workforce changes, students need access to skills, new experiences, and guidance that prepare them for jobs. We support efforts to expand college and career exploration, build workforce-ready skills, and find quality mentorship plus more. Now, more young people are moving toward their goals with greater confidence.
Outside-School Opportunities
After the bell rings or summer starts, students need development opportunities. We support student programs that enhance self-esteem, increase engagement, and encourage physical, social, and emotional well-being. United Way prioritizes high-quality programming because it helps young people prepare for adulthood.
Family & Caregiver Engagement
We inform and engage families and connect them with resources. Our assistance helps caregivers better support their children. When students, families, schools, and community supports are joined together, young people are more likely to stay on track and thrive. United Way and this community want to make that possible.
