Our programs bring people, resources, and solutions together to help Alaskans thrive.

United Way of Anchorage responds to community needs with programs that strengthen stability, improve well-being, and expand opportunity. Challenges like housing insecurity, barriers to health care, educational disparities, and financial strain are connected. That’s why we bring a comprehensive approach to every challenge, working across systems and alongside partners to support people in practical, lasting ways.

Our programs stem from our impact areas, which are Financial Security, Healthy Community, and Youth Opportunity. Since 1956, we’ve listened to our community, responded to local needs, and built solutions that grow over time. Through that work, we help create pathways for individuals and families to build stronger futures.

Connective Efforts

We bring people together to solve problems in ways that are responsive and scalable. United Way actively listens to what our community needs and invests in solutions that create measurable impact. By working with partners across sectors, we address urgent challenges while also building stronger systems for the future.

Strong Partnerships

Lasting progress requires collaboration. United Way works with nonprofits, government agencies, schools, health providers, employers, and community members to design and deliver programs that reflect local realities. Together, we can respond more effectively, share knowledge, and scale what works.

Broad Vision

Every one of our programs is part of a broader vision for Alaska. By investing in people and working across systems, we’re helping build a bright future for Alaskans. When more individuals and families can reach their full potential, resiliency is strengthened, opportunities are expanded, and communities thrive.

More Pathways

Our programs are rooted in the belief that everyone should have the opportunity to live a healthy, stable, and hopeful life. People must be able to find safe housing, access health care, support children’s success, build financial stability, and connect to critical services. By focusing on these essentials, we open pathways for Alaskans to thrive.

Program Categories

Our programs are clustered into three categories: housing, students, and wellness. They derive from our impact areas, which are Financial Security, Healthy Community, and Youth Opportunity. Each program reflects United Way’s commitment to meet people where they are and help them move forward.

Program Operations

United Way’s work relies on strategic community partnerships, and that approach applies to our programs too. We coordinate with many organizations and people to improve lives across Alaska. They include nonprofits, government agencies, health care clinics and providers, landlords, and school districts—among others.
