2026 Walk for Warmth participants take our message to the Anchorage trails.

Eighty-three Alaskans registered for Walk for Warmth on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026 and took our message to the trails. By going alongside Westchester Lagoon and Walter J. Hickel Parkway, we brought attention to the need for heating assistance to help neighbors stay safe and warm, especially in the winter.

On the day before Walk for Warmth, Your Alaska Link stopped by to talk with us about what United Way of Anchorage achieves by hosting this event. So far, this year, we've raised $13,145, thanks to generous donations from ENSTAR and community members. We'll continue accepting donations until Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

“The cost of living in Anchorage is increasing every year, whether it's utility assistance, rent, groceries,"  said Eric Utraq Billingsley, our President and CEO. "And it is difficult for families to make it by and think about all the different costs that they've, they've seen. And so, this is just one area that we know that the community needs assistance with.”

By donating to Walk for Warmth, households stay warm, safe, and financially secure. We use these funds to pay past-due utility bills for households in the Anchorage area. With your help, we’re keeping hope lit for more Alaskans. Thank you!
